I am penning this months postcard not from my studio in Suffolk, but from a log cabin in the Lincolnshire countryside were I am enjoying a week away with family.
Whilst it is enjoyable to take a break from day-to-day work, I must admit that I am beginning to miss holding a pen in my hand, or having a camera around my neck.
Photography and writing are similar in that both provide a method in which to express the most deep-seated emotions and thoughts. Each click of the shutter or word written is a rendering of some primal emotion in our being, set free in the form of a photograph or sentence.
Photography is a storytellers tool that is as exhilarating for the viewers to behold as it is for the artist to undertake. I am beginning to feel the strain of my temporary inability to tell stories through the camera, and very much look forward to picking up the cameras upon my return with a renewed determination to push the boundaries and feel that exhilaration once again.
Please accept my apologises for a slightly shorter Postcard this month, I have spent much of it recharging the batteries ahead of a busy Autumn & Winter.
Enjoy the remainder of your Summer break.
